A true and honest review about smoky mountain labs, and Gene. I did a lot of research before choosing the kind of dog I wanted to be a part of our family, an English lab seemed to the clear choice for a companion and family dog. Now what breeder could we trust to choose from, smoky mountain labs in my research was the superior choice. What made these decisions was a few strong facts,
1. Was the outstanding blood line of these dogs breeding for intelligence, temperament, and champion background.
2. The health background, as we know veterinarian costs can be quite considerable from poor breeding, Gene’s dogs are very healthy and well documented for their health.
3. Gene’s facilities show the dedication, integrity, and his love for breeding these beautiful dogs.
4. Gene is a man of his word, my dog has more than exceeded, me and my families expectations, everywhere we take him people ask us where we got him, and who was the breeder. He is a handsome boy.
I couldn’t be more happy or recommend smoky mountain labs more highly to anyone wanting to seriously considering one of these beautiful dogs. With Gene’s dogs you will definitely not be disappointed .

Phenomenal! All the way around! We are so elated with our newest family member, Hudson. Gene and his Smoky Mtn. family have taken great care in delivering us a fantastic pup. Hudson has been with us just over a week and we are so pleased with him - my wife and him bonded instantly. We had requested a calmer pup to fit our lifestyles (she’s retired, I’m close to retiring but really active). Hudson is a great mix. A “couch potato” but also always down for some playtime. He’s unbelievably intelligent and is used as the “model student” in our puppy classes by taking to instruction so well. Now, he’s a puppy so, we also get that mix of silliness and craziness, but we know we’ve got a terrific lab. He’s a hit everywhere we take him with so many folks remarking how handsome and impressive looking he is.Dealing with Gene has been a great experience. He’s top-notch! Very knowledgeable and helpful with any questions (not that I had a lot since he is so thorough with his information). Trust the process and be patient as it’s so worth the wait! Oh, and I can’t say enough about the crate training. This is a game changer! We got Hudson delivered to us and had him in puppy classes that same day (schedule worked out that way). Classmates and instructors warned us about a sleepless night. Ha! Not an issue whatsoever! We followed the puppy manual, aka puppy bible, provided by Gene…which has meant wonderful restful nights, and a super happy puppy (and puppy parents) in the morning.This is our third lab, first from Gene, and I’m truly grateful I found Gene and Smoky Mtn. Labradors. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Great experience end to end. Highly recommend getting the additional crate training, too. Our chocolate lab slept through the night day one and hasn’t barked in his kennel once. Highly recommend! Great temperament, smart and amazing house pet.

We are experienced Lab owners, and have never met such a well behaved and polite puppy. She is so smart, super sweet and the most beautiful girl... the whole package! We couldn't have asked for a better companion to fit with our retirement lifestyle. Gene guided us through the purchase step-by-step, and he shared valuable knowledge, advice and guidelines for Josie's care and health. We are head over heels for this girl, and recommend Smoky Mtn Labradors a million times over.
Meet Maximus, our almost 5 month old ADORABLE black lab! Gene picked the perfect dog for our family! Smokey Mountain Labradors was knowledgable, professional and very easy to work with. You have to trust their process and accept that there will be little to no communication while they care for the puppies and pick out the best one for you and your family. He knows what he is doing. Trust him.Maximus has the sweetest nature and even as Maximus is very athletic and agile, he is also very gentle and calm an just as smart and clever (figures things out quickly) and easy to train. Maximus has already adapted to basic behavior training, including potty training (as well as able at almost 5 months). He is GREAT with kids and other dogs. We had him crate trained before he arrived and now we have ongoing local behavior training that will continue as he develops. Do NOT skip the crate training. Although optional, it has been critical for all around success.Thank you Gene and The Smokey Labrador Team! We love Maximus and are so thrilled that he is part of our family!
