A true and honest review about smoky mountain labs, and Gene. I did a lot of research before choosing the kind of dog I wanted to be a part of our family, an English lab seemed to the clear choice for a companion and family dog. Now what breeder could we trust to choose from, smoky mountain labs in my research was the superior choice. What made these decisions was a few strong facts,
1. Was the outstanding blood line of these dogs breeding for intelligence, temperament, and champion background.
2. The health background, as we know veterinarian costs can be quite considerable from poor breeding, Gene’s dogs are very healthy and well documented for their health.
3. Gene’s facilities show the dedication, integrity, and his love for breeding these beautiful dogs.
4. Gene is a man of his word, my dog has more than exceeded, me and my families expectations, everywhere we take him people ask us where we got him, and who was the breeder. He is a handsome boy.
I couldn’t be more happy or recommend smoky mountain labs more highly to anyone wanting to seriously considering one of these beautiful dogs. With Gene’s dogs you will definitely not be disappointed .

Dealing with Gene has been a great experience. He’s top-notch! Very knowledgeable and helpful with any questions (not that I had a lot since he is so thorough with his information). Trust the process and be patient as it’s so worth the wait! Oh, and I can’t say enough about the crate training. This is a game changer! We got Hudson delivered to us and had him in puppy classes that same day (schedule worked out that way). Classmates and instructors warned us about a sleepless night. Ha! Not an issue whatsoever! We followed the puppy manual, aka puppy bible, provided by Gene…which has meant wonderful restful nights, and a super happy puppy (and puppy parents) in the morning.

Our Seger pup, Arnie, is the quintessential English Lab—blocky head, thick build, and incredibly smart. At just 11 weeks, he’s already 28 lbs and picking up commands like a champ. We are so in love with him!

Maximus has the sweetest nature and even as Maximus is very athletic and agile, he is also very gentle and calm an just as smart and clever (figures things out quickly) and easy to train. Maximus has already adapted to basic behavior training, including potty training (as well as able at almost 5 months). He is GREAT with kids and other dogs. We had him crate trained before he arrived and now we have ongoing local behavior training that will continue as he develops. Do NOT skip the crate training. Although optional, it has been critical for all around success.
