Throughout the history of Smoky Mountain Labradors, we’ve been honored with great success in the show ring. With AKC Champions like Smoky Mtn Moose and Camo paving the way, we continue building on that foundation with each new generation. Our program is rooted in a deep understanding of what it takes to produce a true standout—what we proudly call “the gentleman’s dog.” From structure and movement to presence and poise, our Labradors are bred and trained to excel.
This division is dedicated to refining the training and temperament of our Labradors. Here, each dog is taught foundational obedience commands such as sit, down, stay, come, and heel—all essential for a well-mannered companion. Beyond commands, we emphasize proper behavior in both public settings and the home, helping our dogs become confident, respectful, and reliable partners in any environment.
Our newest division focuses on training Labrador Retrievers as skilled gun dogs. These dogs learn to respond to commands with precision and retrieve game both on land and in water. Though still growing, this program is already showing strong success in developing dependable, driven working dogs.
At Smoky Mountain Labradors, the health and well-being of our dogs always come first. We exclusively feed our Labs Purina Pro Plan to give them the nutrition they need for optimal growth and vitality. Every dog undergoes comprehensive health screenings through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA), ensuring our families receive healthy, sound companions. To uphold transparency and excellence, each Lab is assigned an AKC registration number, and our show dogs compete exclusively in AKC events. These practices reflect our unwavering commitment to ethical breeding, responsible care, and top-quality English Labrador Retrievers.
Yes! You can think of Smoky Mtn Labradors as our “mother” kennel. Everything we do is a family effort. We are grateful to say that our pups bred from Moose and our females are in incredibly high demand. We often hear the words, “I want a Moose puppy.” This has allowed us to start a second family-run kennel to better service our clients and distribute the workload. Everything we do, we do together, and we are thankful for the ability to make a living delivering the highest-quality English Labrador pups to families across the nation.

Over the years, we have had so many people place deposits after we have worked tirelessly to produce their puppy and then back out. Most people are unaware of the extensive work of raising a litter of puppies. With the rising costs of veterinarian bills, surgical implants and C-sections, and the labor involved in raising a litter, we desire to be in relationships with only very serious Labrador buyers. We typically see a wait time of 6 months to a year for our pups; most are paid for before they are born. The demand for a Chocolate Lab puppy is beyond anything we would have ever believed.

Smoky Mtn Labradors has a non-refundable policy once a puppy has been purchased. There is only one exception to this policy, and that has to do with any potential failed medical examinations of your puppy at your veterinarian office within the first 7 days of arriving at your home. One of the things that set us apart is that all of our puppies here at Smoky Mtn Labradors have been thoroughly examined by our own veterinarian before we even begin to show you pictures or even before the selection of your puppy. We have found that this process eliminates any disappoint for your family. Only once a puppy has been returned to us upon failing an exam will a refund be issued. Below is more information concerning the health examination process: (Smoky Mtn Never refunds any part of the Training) Our trainers are independent from our kennel. Please review their contract extensively.
Initial Health Exam - In order for the health warranty to be valid, the purchaser agrees to have the puppy examined by a veterinarian within 3 working days of the transfer. If at that time the puppy is diagnosed with an existing medical problem, the puppy may be returned for a full refund. If requested by the Breeder, the purchaser must provide the Breeder with an evaluation from a second veterinarian of the Breeder’s choice at the Breeder’s expense prior to any payment. Smoky Mtn. Labradors must be informed immediately of the initial vet examination by email at gene@smokymtnlabradors.com. If we do not receive notice of the vet examination, all guarantees are no longer valid.
If the buyer’s vet establishes a major problem with the puppy upon initial examination, which would identify any genetic illness, then the buyer should initiate a claim for the puppy. At the buyer’s expense, the buyer should return the puppy to the seller if the seller requests so to be done. There is a very specific protocol for this - please contact our office immediately. Due to Parvo Virus and Kennel Cough running rampant at veterinarian offices, local pet stores , and road side rest areas around the country, Smoky Mtn Kennels is not liable for this disease.
