Helping the Less Fortunate
Our family is very fortunate to share what we have with those in the Appalachian Mountain Community who are in need — and many people are in need in our area. Did you know that in Tennessee alone, 950,000+ children and adults struggle with hunger? We do everything we can to alleviate that need.
In addition to our local efforts, we continue to manage our school project, Wells of Joy, in Uganda, an East African country where we have worked for the last 15 years.
Toward that end,
Gene and Karen Wolfenbarger, the heads of the family behind Chocolate Labradors, Moose & Mary, and Smoky Mtn Labradors, founded THE LORD’S CHILD®, an organization dedicated to caring for the spiritual well-being of our community while providing for the physical needs as well. At that time, they couldn’t have envisioned the hundreds of people God would use to bring the Kingdom of God to earth through THE LORD’S CHILD.
Their hearts were moved after witnessing the poverty in East Tennessee, not only when Gene experienced it firsthand as a child but also upon their return to the area many years later. In 2007, God gave Gene and Karen a dream to begin an organization that supported those experiencing poverty in this area. As THE LORD’S CHILD continues our mission today, Gene and Karen have invited the gifts and talents of others to help lead and grow THE LORD’s CHILD into the organization it is today.
EXPANDING OUR EFFORTS TO AFRICA
In addition to helping alleviate poverty and providing food to those in impoverished communities in Appalachia, members of THE LORD’S CHILD staff have traveled and led teams to Uganda and South Africa to open educational facilities, erect school buildings, and dig wells to provide water to the residents. Each year, our family commits to sending tens of thousands of dollars to educate 350 African children through high school. This is all possible in large part to the success of our kennels, and we are so grateful to each client who allows us to make this possible.
Please get to know our family thoroughly. We want you to understand that when you buy a beautiful, full-bred English Lab puppy from us, your money will go to more than just the cost of breeding, caring for, and training these amazing dogs. You are also contributing to helping people who are less fortunate than we are in Appalachia and Africa. You are not simply getting a great pup; you are joining us in doing good in the world.
